Skype, the Internet telephone unit of eBay Inc, is planning to launch its service for iPhone users on Tuesday and for BlackBerry in May as part of its effort to expand beyond desktop computers.

As everyone in the iPhone world is probably aware by now, Skype Inc has just released Skype (FREE: download here) for the iPhone. This mobile client allows the usual: calling and chatting to other Skype and Skype Out contacts over wifi. Note, that EDGE/3G are still not supported, due to the consumption of excess data during skype calls.

Finally Skype is on the iPhone and it works! Skype for iPhone took a little longer to download than the average app but it eventually completed its journey onto my iPhone. This app is taking a spot on my first page of apps given it’ll be one of my most used.
